A very short indicator tube.
On July, 24, 2001, Chad Hauris tells us that:
The 6AF6 G Magic Eye Tube could be used as a level indicator in stereo tape recorders as it has two sections. I had a V-M recorder (Tape-o-matic) that used one.
On March 16, 2002, Frank tells us that:
The 6AF6 was designed for and/or popularly used in early 1940's light aircraft transmitters such as the widely-used AVT-112A, for indicating both plate current and modulation level. It provided a simple, very compact, quick and reliable way to tune the transmitter while flying.
